
Perry Kinkaide
MSc, PhD, CMC
Dr. Perry Kinkaide is a visionary leader, scientist, and management consultant recognized for his decades of contribution to innovation, public policy, and economic diversification in Alberta and beyond. With a career that bridges government, consulting, and entrepreneurship, Perry has become one of Alberta’s most influential voices in advancing technology and organizational change.
Before retiring in 2001, Perry served as Managing Partner and National Knowledge Management Practice Leader for KPMG Consulting in Edmonton (1987–2001), following a distinguished tenure with the Government of Alberta as Assistant Deputy Minister, Director of Privatization and Funding Reform, and Regional Director of Services for the Handicapped (1972–1986). His academic journey includes a BA from Colgate University (1964), MSc (1967), and PhD in Brain Research from the University of Alberta (1972).

In retirement, Perry founded and led the Alberta Council of Technologies Society (ABCtech)—an independent, non-profit organization with over 20,000 subscribers. Through ABCtech, he has championed the commercialization of emerging technologies and the diversification of Alberta’s economy. His leadership has driven initiatives such as the Alberta Economic Resilience Index, research on SME growth challenges, and The Future of Alberta’s Professions report. He has also chaired major innovation events including Analytics, Big Data and the Cloud, Creativity & Convergence, and the Festival of BIG Ideas.

Perry’s influence extends across numerous boards and advisory roles. He has served as Director for the Alberta/Canada Fusion Technology Alliance, Alberta Stem Cell Network, and Certified Management Consultants of Canada, as well as co-founding several Alberta technology alliances in cell therapy, cleantech, and fusion energy. His advisory work includes Troy Media, Natural Fibre Technologies, and Pleasant Solutions, with previous directorships at Varafy Corporation, Salu Design Group, and Visionstate.

Honored in 2007 by Alberta Venture magazine as one of the province’s “50 Most Influential Albertans,” Perry continues to mentor young entrepreneurs and engage audiences across North America with his insightful, often humorous perspectives on leadership, innovation, and the social impact of emerging technologies. His latest focus explores the multi-trillion-dollar intergenerational wealth transfer and its implications for Canada’s economic future.
